Ice Driving Academy by Ultimate-GT
Our ice driving academy is one of a kind, you will get the very best treatment and the very best driving skills taught to you by our highly qualified and world renowned drivers, such as Juha Kankkunen who is our specialist on these trips.
Juha Kankkunen is a ice driver and was born in Laukaa which is a small town in Finland on the 2nd April 1959. He is now 52 years old. Juha has become one of the most experienced rally drivers of his time over the many years of his long driving career in his many years of rally driving and also different driving techniques.
Juha has been dubbed as the “Fastest man on Ice”
Juha first started his magnificent rally career back in 1978 alongside ice driver taking the big step up into the World Rally Championship in 1983 and his career span lasted until 2002. In his long 24 year career
Juha managed to win 23 of his world rallies with taking home 4 WRC Gold Medals.
Kankkunen’s wins of the WRC were became records in these driving techniques. This was when he became world champion with 3 different car manufacturers
Whist you will find and may prefer driving in many of the nice seasonable hot places in the world rather than being in Finland at one of our Frozen Lakes. Many people will see the freezing cold weather and decide not to like it, but with the amount of snow and the reason why we do these trips it is actually amazing to be able to just come out to Finland and take part in something that you will not get to do anywhere else. You wouldn’t really be able to gain that excitement on normal roads.
Have you ever thought about what it would actually be like to participate in driving a car on very thick, cold and a very slippery surface? A place where you always have to think what your next move will be, where you don’t have the same grip that you have normally on a normal road. With your ice driving academy we will teach you to understand the magnificent movements and what you should do next on the slippery frozen ice.

We have trained rally drivers and professional drivers such as the world famous Juha Kankkunen on hand to give you all the advice you need to receive whilst you are in one of our cars under the supervision of one of our cars.
On our ice driving academy we will put you into one of our specially modified cars with the correct protective gear that you would expect whilst you are driving with any of our drivers. The ice driving academy surface is just a normal lake that you could find yourself fishing on or even walking any of your pets around on a normal afternoon back at home, the only difference is that this lake is in Finland where the weather is very cold and the lakes will be thick with very deep and strong ice.
On our ice driving academy we will put you into one of our specially modified cars which have all the safety apparatus inside and we will provide you with your own protective equipment. Your ice driving academy surface is just a normal lake, a lake that you may find yourself walking around with your pet or even having a peaceful night or day of fishing.
The only difference to a lake in the UK compared to a lake in Finland is that Finland’s weather is much colder and therefore there is much ice and snow to cover the driving surface. The lake is thick with very strong ice that will always without doubt take the weight of our many ice driving academy cars.
You will always be safe and in great hands with our highly trained drivers and additional staff that you will see out and about on your ice driving academy.
The way we set up the ice to make it able to be driven across means that time and effort is put into making sure the ice has a covering of snow with a wide track area for the driving. We send snow blowers onto the surface to manufacture the circuit and make it race worthy and very safe and durable.
